Volissos is situated in the north-western part of the island and is 25,48 miles away from the town of Chios. It is the capital of the Municipality of Amanis which comprises the 17 settlements developing in the mountainous regions of Amanis and the foots of Mount Pelinaion. The Settlement of Volissos is located in the greater region virtually since the 10
th century B.C. Today it vividly maintains its traditional architecture as well as a series of typical traditional customs and productive processes.
